Um, Who?

Hi, thanks for dropping by rickcurrie.com!

I’m a Canadian father, husband, writer, brother, uncle, camper, basement guitar strummer and comedian.

Usually it’s the ‘comedian’ part that brings people here. I’ve been doing standup comedy since the days when you needed a personal website to promote yourself, and here it still is!

Actually, I’ve been at it even longer than that. Somehow, I’ve made my living in comedy in Canada in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and now in the 2020s. That’s a span of 5 decades and I’m still completely unknown! That’s kinda incredible and hilarious and I count myself very lucky to be able to say that.

Thanks again for dropping by, I’d be glad to hear if I can help you with putting together a comedy show, writing, or wherever else my weird skill set might fit.

Whats New?

Laugh for the Cure

Very happy to be involved with Laugh for the Cure again this year. This is my 3rd year doing it and it’s always a great night. This year the show is March 27 – tickets and more info are available here: https://ottawacancer.ca/events-article/laugh-for-the-cure-2025

CBC Radio Day 6 – The Sens new owner

I was asked to do a piece on Michael Andlauer’s purchase of the Ottawa Senators and tried to jam as many jokes as possible into two minutes. https://www.cbc.ca/listen/live-radio/1-14-day-6/clip/15991913-the-ottawa-senators-snoop-dogg-ryan-reynolds.-instead

CBC Radio’s “Laugh Out Loud”

In March 2022 CBC’s Laugh Out Loud taped their first live show in 2 years at the Shenkman Arts Center and I was lucky enough to be included in the lineup with Don Kelly, Jenn Grant, David Pryde, Derek Seguin and Ali Hassan. The show aired in April and can be heard here: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2020424259702
